This site has been set up by Steve and Phil…
Steve’s a UK base internet geek and multiple small business owner who’s been involved at pretty much every stage of small business – multiple times, from setup, growth, to sale, investment, and yes even failure…. and the No1 lesson he’s learnt along the way over his last decade in business – the successful ones have one thing in common, an owner with a good handle on the figures. All else being equal a business that has a real handle on its finances stands exponentially more chance of success, and ultimately even the best accountant in the world will not have as much of a vested interest in your business as you do.
“I learned a long time ago that an accountant was only as useful as the information I gave them… So throw out that copy of Bookkeeping for Dummies! I’ve not read it for a while but I can remember I found it pretty hard to follow if I’m honest, and there was no real detail – not a lot of use at all really!”
Phil on the other hand is a retired accountant, who’s been there done it and worn the T-Shirt, and in companies of all sizes, including some UK household names – but he takes a seldom found (amongst accountants anyway!) practical approach to bookkeeping and small business accounts. An approach that is easy to follow, can be explained in plain English and as Steve has come to learn can save countless hours of headaches, and more than a few quid in accountancy fees, a methodical, organised approach that means your bookkeeping need no longer be a chore!

Well that’s up to you, and the growing community – Steve, Phil and the growing number of contributors have some ideas but they want to base the site around the information that people want and need, and to that end they’ve decided to base the initial content around the feedback they receive here – once the site is live the growing active community, and those just looking for help with a single bookkeeping or accounting related problem, will help drive the content, but help us help to help you, (and probably plenty of other people with the same problem/question/idea) – and make a point, or ask a question now using the form below – we’ll then keep you posted on progress to get the site live!
